Nikah Card Wording: 12 Examples in English and Urdu

Published 2026-10-05 by the Dawat team

The wording on a Nikah card sets the tone for the whole ceremony. It should be respectful, short enough to read at a glance, and clear about the date, time and place. This guide gives you twelve examples you can copy and adjust, plus the small details people often forget.

What every Nikah card should include

  • The names of the groom and bride, and often the names of their parents.
  • The word Nikah, so guests know which event this is.
  • The date, with the day of the week. Add the Islamic date if you like.
  • The time of the Nikah, and the time of dinner if it follows.
  • The venue and a short address with a landmark.
  • A phone number for confirmations and directions.

Traditional wording

With the blessings of Allah, Mr and Mrs Siddiqui request the honour of your presence at the Nikah ceremony of their daughter Fatima with Ahmed, son of Mr and Mrs Khan.
Together with their families, Ahmed and Fatima request the pleasure of your company at their Nikah ceremony.
اللہ تعالیٰ کے فضل و کرم سے ہم آپ کو اپنی بیٹی فاطمہ کے نکاح کی مبارک تقریب میں شرکت کی دعوت دیتے ہیں۔

Modern and short wording

We are getting married, Nikah Saturday 14 December at 2:00 PM. Join us.
Two families, one beautiful day. Please join us for the Nikah of Ahmed and Fatima.
Your prayers and presence will complete our happiness.

Adding a dua or verse

Many families place a short dua at the top of the card. Keep it separate from the main text so the card stays easy to read. A single line is enough, and it looks best at the top above the names.

بارک اللہ لکما وبارک علیکما وجمع بینکما فی خیر

Urdu wording examples

ہم آپ کو اپنے بیٹے کے نکاح کی تقریب میں شرکت کی دعوت دیتے ہیں۔ آپ کی آمد ہمارے لیے باعثِ عزت ہو گی۔
دو خاندانوں کی خوشیوں کے اس سنگم پر آپ کی دعاؤں کے طلبگار ہیں۔
رخصتی اور ولیمہ کی تفصیلات بعد میں آپ تک پہنچا دی جائیں گی۔

Tips before you print

  • Read the card aloud. If you stumble, shorten the sentence.
  • Check every name and the spelling twice, including the parents’ names.
  • Ask a family member to read the date and time. Most printing mistakes are in numbers.
  • Use the same wording on the printed card and the WhatsApp image.
