Wedding Card Size Guide: A3, A4 and A5 Explained
Published 2026-10-11 by the Dawat team
Choosing a size is mostly about where the card will be seen. A hand-delivered invitation, a welcome board and a poster at the hall all need different sizes. Here is a simple guide.
The three common sizes
| Size | Millimetres | Pixels at 300 DPI | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| A5 | 148 x 210 | 1748 x 2480 | Hand-delivered invitations |
| A4 | 210 x 297 | 2480 x 3508 | Larger cards, framed prints, inserts |
| A3 | 297 x 420 | 3508 x 4961 | Welcome boards and posters |
What is DPI and why 300?
DPI means dots per inch. Printers need about 300 dots per inch for text and artwork to look sharp on paper. A file with fewer pixels will look soft when printed. All Dawat downloads are made at 300 DPI at the size you choose.
Bleed and margins
If your design has colour right to the edge, printers usually want a few millimetres of extra colour beyond the cut line, called bleed. Ask your printer whether they need 3 mm bleed. Keep important text at least 5 mm inside the edge so the cutter does not trim it.
PDF or PNG?
Send the PDF to the printer, because it carries the exact physical size. Use the PNG for screens and quick proofs. For WhatsApp, use the social size image, which is smaller and loads quickly.
A quick checklist
- Pick the size by where the card will be used.
- Download the PDF for print and the PNG for screen.
- Ask for a printed proof of one card before you print the whole batch.
- Check the date, time and names on the proof.
